Creative Patching and Darning for Jeans and Shirts Workshop
A 3 hour visible mending workshop held online on Zoom looking at simple stitches you can use to creatively patch and darn your jeans or shirts (or any other garment in woven fabrics).
Do you have a favourite pair of jeans in need of some repair? Or maybe a linen shirt that’s wearing through in areas? This workshop is suitable for you whether you have thicker woven fabrics to mend like denim, or finer fabrics.
I will teach you:
simple stitches you can use to create patterns while stitching your patches into place.
darning on woven fabrics
This workshop is suitable for beginners, and can be taken further if you’re more confident. No previous sewing experience necessary.
Some of the patterns will be simple Sashiko patterns, and I will teach you how to create them freehand without the need for transfers. I will also encourage you to be creative and make your own designs.
For this workshop you will need to provide your own materials, and further guidance will be sent to you to hep you choose them once you book a place.
You will need:
Fabrics to use for patching.
Thread- embroidery or sashiko thread
A needle- embroidery needles or long darners work well.
Some pins or safety pins
Sewing thread (this will be removed from your project, so it doesn’t matter about the colour)
This workshop will help you embrace trial and error, creativity with no intention of perfection, and will leave you with skills you can have fun being creative with. I want to make mending accessible and fun for you!
The workshop will be recorded, and you’ll be sent a link to the recording after the workshop. This will be available for 6 months only.
All places reserved on this workshop are non refundable, and it can be very difficult to swap dates, so please check your calendar before booking!
All workshop times are UK time. This is GMT until the 29th March, and then BST until the 25th October 2026.
Zoom links will be sent one week in advance.
