Scotland's Trade Fair: A Busy Start

January - always a time to start planning for the year ahead! My year always gets off to a very busy start, as I exhibit at Scotland’s Trade Fair in Glasgow and need to get straight into preparations for it as soon as January begins. So far this year has also included some visible mending and photos of my accessories out and about!

This year I wanted to develop some new colourways for Scotland’s Trade Fair, so my year started with colour swatches and knitting, working out which combinations work well together, and which ones excited me! I love playing with colour- it can be hard to restrict myself sometimes- but I only had a limited amount of time so I had to make decisions quickly this time.

Preparing for Scotland’s Trade Fair

Preparation for Scotlands Trade fair in Glasgow also includes having some new photos taken for my display, as well as the catalogue I send out to prospective stockists. Rose and Julien helped me once again, and Leni seemed quite keen to get involved -she was hard to resist…!

A Sneaky Peak of Designs to Come

I have four new colourways of scarf to come later this year- you can see a sneaky peak of them below from my stand at Scotland’s Trade Fair. I had a great few days meeting some of my stockists, and I am looking forward to sharing some new ones with you later in the year. Some of these pieces will be available from my stockists from about April.

This month I also wanted to test out a blanket, as I sometimes get asked if I can make them. The answer is now yes!

I’m hoping to launch these next month in a limited selection of colours. Let me know if there’s a colour combination you would like to see.

Visible Mending Projects

This month so far has also included a visible mending commission, and a personal mending project. I have repaired a pair of much-loved gloves, and now hope they’ll last many more years, and I’m working on a pair of socks of mine too. The socks are a slow work in progress- I still have the heels to go, but they’re getting there.

I’ll be running more visible mending workshops this year, so keep an eye out on my events page if you’d like to learn. I’ve also launched a page for mending tutorials and How-To guides as well as daring wool.
